10/13/2007 GhostLight Productions Creates Pop Culture: An Homage to Andy Warhol for the Human Fund
Cleveland – Following the incredibly successful “the pARTy 2006,” the Human Fund again contracted GhostLight Productions, LLC to produce the organization’s 2007 fundraising event and exhibition, Pop Culture: An Homage to Andy Warhol at Idea Center at Playhouse Square. More than 600 guests immersed themselves in a recreation of the seductive milieu of this icon of pop culture, painstakingly created by the GhostLight Productions team. The evening’s fantasy environments included a recreation of New York’s famous Studio 54 nightclub and Warhol’s famous studio, “The Silver Factory,” complete with installation of Warhol sculpture “Silver Clouds” loaned from the Andy Warhol Museum. Warhol’s “Film Empire” (1964), recently on view at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, added to the night’s authentic pop ambience.
Twenty- five original works were included in the exhibition, including six Warhol works from the the Andy Warhol Foundation. These were: Muhammad Ali, 1978; Committee 2000, 1982; After the Party, 1979; Cow, 1971; Shoes, 1980; and Sitting Bull, 1986, which were sold at live auction at the end of this spectacular evening. “The Human Fund has had the pleasure of working with GhostLight Productions to create a spectacular museum quality exhibition at our annual fundraiser and art exhibition, “ said Human Fund Co-Founder and Co-Chairman Heather Guess. “ With original Warhols’s on view, we had to be very selective in our choice of the company used to produce the exhibition. GhostLight completely understood both the technical aspects and the conceptual needs.”
Cleveland Metropolitan School District student “Supremes” and “Temptations” created a Motown vibe in Studio 54, followed by DJ Mick Boogie spinning disco beats. Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers and visited food stations throughout the Idea Center while viewing student art created for this evening’s silent auction. The event netted over $200,000 to support the Cleveland Metropolitan School District All-City Arts Program.
“We asked GhostLight to do more than produce an event,” added Guess. “ We asked them produce an event and design museum quality exhibitions, which not only needed to be thoughtfully conceived but interactive, fun, and engaging. They rose to the challenge!”
