01/26/2009 GhostLight Creates Excitement at US Figure Skating Championships
CLEVELAND, OH- GhostLight Productions, LLC produced three unique special events at the 2009 AT&T US Figure Skating Championships held January 18-25 at Quicken Loan Arena and presented by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission in partnership with Championships 2009. With the Championships tagline "Eight Days, One Totally Rockin Town," the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum was the perfect venue for the welcome dinner for 250 event officials and City of Cleveland dignitaries held on January 18th.
On January 24th, the GhostLight team had to sharpen their logistic skills to produce two very distinctive parties for two very distinctive groups in two very distinctive locations. With start times only four hours apart! Quicken Loans Arena was the scene of the Alumni Reception for US Figure Skating Championship participants in town for the eight day event. Brian Boitano and Kristy Yamaguchi were two of the 100 former champions who attended the 6pm party. At 10pm the Competitors Party was in full swing in the Van Sweringen Arcade, the showcase restored lobby of the Midland Building. The staid travertine marble floor and English oak paneling reverberated when New York DJ Terry Urban, flown in for the event, started spinning his European club mix. The 300 party goers who ranged in age from 12 to 25 danced all night, stopping only to enjoy the 11:30pm buffet breakfast catered by Hyde Park Grille. At 2am, the crowd reluctantly left the dance floor for the short ride back to their hotels.
When asked about the inspiration for the Competitors Party, GhostLight Productions Chairwoman and CEO thanked her daughter. "My daughter is an amateur ice dancer, so I have spent countless hours at practices and performances and know that these kids have endless energy," said Hermann. "They also have traveled extensively in their short lives, so I knew the Euro thing would work. And c'mon, who doesn't love breakfast?" she asked.
Formed in 2006, GhostLight Productions, LLC is a full‐spectrum integrated event design, production and management company. With over 50 years combined industry experience, Deborah Smythe Hermann, Chairwoman and CEO, and David Shimp, President and COO, form the backbone of GhostLight Productions.
