11/20/2009 GhostLight Produces Third "Ride The Rainbow" Event
CLEVELAND, OH- For the third biennial benefit fundraiser for Rainbow Babies and Children's Corporation of University Hospitals Health System, GhostLight Productions, LLC recreated New York City's legendary Rainbow Room as guests were invited to "Ride the Rainbow to an Evening of Elegance." GhostLight has provided event design, production services and project management for this major fundraising event since 2004 when the "Ride the Rainbow" theme was branded by the Health System.
The weather on November 15 looked anything but elegant as a horrendous rainstorm swept through downtown Cleveland and could have easily swept arriving guests off their feet without the seamless valet service orchestrated at Cleveland Public Hall. Once inside, over 1300 party goers stepped into an environment reminiscent of 1920s elegance - resplendent with crystal chandeliers and exquisite food stations. New York chic was brought to the dance floor by the irresistible sounds of The Alex Donner Orchestra flown in from NYC for the evening. The silken-voiced Donner kept the dance floor swinging into the night.
But it was not all New York. Photos of Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital depicting its 120-year history were suspended over the dance floor to remind guests that their participation in this superb event would help to ensure the hospital's position as the region's premier medical facility dedicated to the care of children and their families. "Ride the Rainbow to an Evening of Elegance" netted $850,000.
"It takes 18 months to produce a Ride the Rainbow event," according to GhostLight Productions Chairwoman and CEO Deb Smythe Herman. "The hospital committee members and development staff devote an exceptional amount of time, talent and pure love to every planning detail. It is a thrill for us to bring this event to life each time and to see the theme develop from year to year."
